Krebs des Reproduktiven Systems ist weltweit sehr verbreitet, wobei Geb&aauml;rmutterhalskrebs der 4. und Gebärmutterkrebs der 6. häufigste Typ ist. Fast 85 Prozent aller Fälle und 90 Prozent aller durch Gebärmutterhalskrebs verursachten Todesfälle ereignen sich in Ländern mit niedrigem und mittlerem Einkommen. Gebärmutterhalskrebs führt hier die Liste der krebsbedingten Todesf&aauml;lle an, obwohl er in hohem Maße vermeidbar ist. Die meisten Fälle sind auf eine Infektion mit dem humanen Papillomavirus (HPV) zur&üuml;ckzuführen. Obwohl es in diesen Ländern billige Impfungen, Vorsorgeuntersuchungen und Behandlungen gibt, erkranken immer noch viele Frauen an Gebärmutterhalskrebs, die meisten davon auf dem afrikanischen Kontinent.
