Magen-Tumorzellen



Magenkrebs ist weltweit für mehr als 800.000 Todesfälle pro Jahr verantwortlich. Obwohl die Inzidenzen in den letzten Jahrzehnten zurückgegangen sind, ist Magenkrebs immer noch die dritthäufigste krebsbedingte Todesursache. Bessere Ernährung, Vorbeugung und verbesserte Diagnostik haben dabei geholfen die Zahl der Todesopfer zu vermindern, die Prognosen sind jedoch sehr schlecht da Magenkrebs extrem aggressiv ist und schnell Metastasen bildet. In der Behandlung von Metastasen konnten bisher nur geringfügige Fortschritte gemacht werden, obwohl große Anstrengungen unternommen werden.

Die häufigste Form von Magenkrebs ist ein Adenokarzinom, eine vom Epithel ausgehende Malignität. Unsere Sammlung an Magenkrebs Zelllinien beinhaltet bisher auch ausschließlich Adenokarzinome.
