Leukaemie Zellen



Leukämie ist eine Krebserkrankung des blutbildenden Gewebes wie des Lymphsystems und des Knochenmarks. Leukämie führt zu einer abnormen Bildung weißer Blutkörperchen, die bei gesunden Probanden zur Bekämpfung von Infektionen beitragen.
Die vorherrschende Form von Krebserkrankungen im Kindesalter ist eine Form von Leukämie, wobei die akute Leukämie 30% aller Krebserkrankungen im Kindesalter ausmacht. Bei dieser Krankheit haben sich die Überlebenschancen durch extensive Forschung seit den 19070er Jahren signifikant von 10% auf 80% verbessert und wenn ein Patient nach den ersten fünf Jahren krebsfrei ist, gilt ein Wiederauftreten der Leukämie als höchst unwahrscheinlich. Nichtsdestotrotz, sterben jedes Jahr mehr als 200.000 Menschen an Leukämie.
Die Überlebenschancen bei Patienten hängen stark von dem Alter, der Form der Leukämie, der Bildung von Metastasen und ob eine Blutarmut herrscht, ab.
