Knochen-Tumorzellen



Knochenkrebs ist eine sehr seltene Erkrankung bei Erwachsenen und primäre Knochentumoren sind noch seltener. Die meisten Knochenkrebsarten sind metastasierten Ursprungs und verhalten sich daher wie das Gewebe, aus dem sie stammen.
Osteo- und Chondrosarkome sind die häufigsten primären Knochenkrebse, während Osteo- und Ewing-Sarkome bei Kindern und jungen Erwachsenen am häufigsten auftreten. Jugendliche entwickeln häufiger Knochenkrebs als Erwachsene. Dies könnte auf die Wachstumsschübe während der Pubertät zurückzuführen sein, da sie die Entwicklung von Knochenkrebs begünstigen. Trotz der relativ geringen Inzidenzen von primären Knochenkrebserkrankungen sind die Sterblichkeitsraten, insbesondere bei Kindern und jungen Erwachsenen, überproportional hoch, weshalb die Erforschung dieses Themas von großer Bedeutung ist.
