Kopf-Hals-Tumorzellen



Kopf- und Halskrebs beschreibt verschiedene bösartige Tumoren, die sich um Hals, Nase, Mund und Kehlkopf entwickeln, wobei die meisten Plattenepithelkarzinome sind.
Mit weltweit fünf Millionen Menschen erkrankten Menschen im Jahr 2015, sind Kopf- und Halskrebs die siebthäufigste Krebsart weltweit. Kopf- und Halskrebs tritt bei Männern doppelt so häufig auf wie bei Frauen.
Kopf- und Halskrebs sind in hohem Maße vermeidbar, da der Konsum von Tabak und Alkohol etwa 75% der Fälle ausmacht.
Es gibt eine gute Überlebensrate innerhalb der ersten fünf Jahre wobei bei früher Diagnose die Prognosen ausgezeichnet sind. Hohe Inzidenzraten gepaart mit einer relativ guten Heilbarkeit machen Kopf- und Halskrebs für die Forschung sehr interessant.
