Lungenkrebs ist die häufigste Todesursache durch Krebserkrankungen weltweit und fordert jährlich fast zwei Millionen Opfer. Die Prognose ist mit einer 5-Jahres-Überlebensrate von weniger als 18% sehr schlecht.
Nichtkleinzelliger Lungenkrebs (NSCLC) macht 85% der Lungenkrebserkrankungen aus und wird in drei Subtypen eingeteilt:


  • Plattenepithelkarzinom

  • Adenokarzinom

  • Großzellkarzinom


  • Viele Fälle von Lungenkrebs sind vermeidbar, da Rauchen der größte Risikofaktor ist und eine entscheidende Rolle bei der Entwicklung der meisten Lungenkrebsarten spielt. In den letzten Jahren wurden große Fortschritte durch mutationsspezifisches Wirkstoff-Targeting und Immuntherapie erzielt. Da Lungenkrebs der größte Verursacher bei krebsbedingten Todesfällen ist, wird an immer neuen Therapieansätzen geforscht, um die Überlebenschancen zu verbessern.
